Inlays/Onlays

We provide many restorative dental procedures here at Radiance Dental in Camas, WA, one of which includes inlays and onlays. These types of restorative procedures are completed using composite resin, and similar to a partial crown. It is the same basic procedure as fitting a crown, except they do not cover the tooth fully. Patients who want to cover decay or get fillings, have discoloration or staining, or have damage to their tooth from a crack or chip, benefit from inlays and onlays.

Inlays are placed inside the cusp of the tooth, while outlays are on the outside of the tooth. The basic procedure for inlays and onlays in our practice goes as follows:

1. Decayed parts of the tooth are first removed, as well as any infected areas.
2. The tooth is cleaned and sterilized thoroughly.
3. An impression is made of the tooth and sent to a dental lab. Temporary restorations are available.
4. In two weeks, patients return to have the inlay or onlay bonded to their tooth.

If you are in need of inlays or onlays, call us at (360) 369-6420to schedule an appointment with Dr. Geetika Chawla here at Radiance Dental in Camas, WA.

Sleep Apnea

Sleep apnea is a frustrating condition for many sufferers.  In addition to nightly snoring, sleep apnea can also increase your risk of developing other serious health problems.  High blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, stroke, daily fatigue, drowsiness, and liver problems can all develop or worsen as a result of sleep apnea.

Fortunately, there are ways to treat sleep apnea at our practice.  While CPAP is commonly used as an effective sleep apnea treatment, many find the device to be uncomfortable.  We offer custom oral appliances as an alternative treatment, preventing respiratory obstruction and ensuring oxygen flow throughout the night.  Many of our patients have found oral appliances to be a more comfortable and convenient sleep apnea treatment.

If you or someone you know may be suffering from sleep apnea, contact our Vancouver, WA practice for more information on how to protect your health and request a free consultation today.

What to do about Sleep Apnea

Sleep apnea is a serious disorder that affects the way you breathe while sleeping, causing your breath to become interrupted for 10 to 20 seconds at a time and jolting you out of your natural sleep rhythm multiple times a night. As a result, your energy, mental acuity and productivity can suffer. Over time, sleep apnea can even lead to serious health problems, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke and weight gain.

At Radiance Dental, instead of using the CPAP, we use the Elastic Mandibular Advancement (EMA) appliance to non-invasively treat snoring and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). The EMA appliance fits over the patient’s teeth and is designed to both advance the mandible (lower jaw) forward and to open the patient’s bite to allow for less restricted airflow during sleep. By increasing airflow and preventing snoring and symptoms of sleep apnea, the appliance promotes deeper and more restful sleep, and because it doesn’t interfere with breathing through the mouth, you can still use the appliance safely with congested nasal passages.

If you believe you have sleep apnea, call (360) 369-6420 to schedule an appointment with Dr. Geetika Chawla. For more information about the Camas, WA dentist, visit www.RadianceDentalNW.com.
